Build A Simple Storage Bin
Hi Everyone,
I'm starting to organize my sewing/painting/art supplies storage. The paints have to be brought in every winter. Don't think 40 below would agree with them!
I buy lots of my paints in larger pots and I might as well admit it, lots of paints period,
so large sturdy storage is a must.
The plans for this project are here. I used my Kreg Jig to assemble
the entire thing! I will be building two of these for my sewing room,
along with the matching table. The bins roll right underneath it.

I sanded the cut boards and rounded all the edges before assembly.
Here's the pocket hole placement for the front and back.

These are the bottom section pieces, all drilled and ready to put together.
The boards snug up so well with pocket holes. No gaps!
For the stain, I used Early American by Minwax, and
Varathane's Diamond Coat in satin to protect the finish.
Who knew 2x4's could look so good?
This would make a great-looking table top!
The longest part is waiting for the stain to dry...
All finished! The casters I took from an old TV stand, and
the handle was about $4 from Lowe's.
This bin is BIG, so it can hold lots of paint pots!
I love the rustic look. And the casters make it so easy to move around!
These could hold fabric, sports equipment, blankets, the kids' toys, all kinds of things!
Have a great day, and happy building!
Val

I love these bins! The look rustic but well built. I like that you reused the casters from a TV stand.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rhonda! You can never have too many bins!
DeleteThis is super cool, Val! I wish I had a workshop to build a few for myself.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this at DIY Showcase on VMG206.

Thank you Megin! I like to call it my workshop, but it's really me moving the car outside and stealing a corner of our garage! Have a great day!
